It’s Coming…

The new website (same address: www.michellegardella.com) is on its way to the internet as I type this. I’m not sure where it is, exactly. Thomas is sitting next to me on his laptop and we launched it, and then nothing happened. It can take up to 72 hours for the new website to go live- so where could it be during that time?

I picture it, all packaged in brown paper and tied with a beautiful satin ribbon, flying around a campfire, with ancient medicine women dancing and chanting around it- their bracelets clinking and clanging, sending it to the heavens. When they are done with their blessing they will open their hands and set it free, and then we will all be able to see it, live.

After the new website is up and running smoothly, the new blog will join, and then the workshops page will launch and a thousand stars will burst into the night sky and sprinkle down on our eyelashes like snowflakes, soft and glittering. Or maybe not. But either way, my heart is alive and I am beyond excited to share my design with you. and you. and yes, you.

My creative heart be still. I am in love.

Yes I shoot weddings and families and Holiday cards and baby announcements, but I also have a fine art branch of my business where I do solo shows and sell prints on Etsy. A new technique I have just discovered, referred to as “Ttv” or, through the viewfinder, is without a doubt going to be the focus of my upcoming solo show in November.
I have so so so much to learn about the techniques and the post processing and the the the… But it is so wonderful to know that even when I have been a photographer for so long, I can still find completely new, completely fabulous places to explore and get lost in.

Just when I was starting to wonder if moving to a suburban town might drown my silly, sassy, ridiculous creative energy, I find out that Betsey Johnson, funk diva designer extraordinaire, grew up just a few houses away.
Anything is possible, even in Wethersfield, Connecticut.

Silver Lining

I find hearts everywhere. They follow me. In the grain of wood. In the bubbles of soap as I wash the dishes. My son’s little beauty mark on his leg. Sometimes I wonder if I am looking for them just as much as they are looking for me. Either way, I love them because they remind me of what is important.

So thank you Mother Nature for sharing your love this afternoon. Needed.

A Few Words on GROWING | Michelle Gardella Photography

I can still vividly remember the nights Braedon would wake up crying, pointing to his legs, wondering “What is going on?!” Growing pains; and the only thing that helped was a warm bath, a bucket of snuggles and softly singing him back into Dreamland.
As my business is expanding and evolving, I feel myself squirming and wincing sometimes. It is definitely not all sunshine and unicorns. I get scared. I get impatient. I compare and contrast myself to the thousands of other photographers out there. I freak out.
I think it’s important to share this. I think it’s completely crucial to be honest about the challenges of becoming Fabulous- how else will we ever be able to know what is going on and then dance right on by? Like my sweet son pointing to his pain completely confused, the tricky parts of evolving ourselves can be baffling and super confusing sometimes.
And this is why I am spending so many hours perfecting my Online Workshops. There are three of them. They are crazy fantastic. And they are completely unique and beautifully down-to-Earth and affordable and and andddd!!!
Because I get it. Growing up and realizing your dreams is super, insanely, ridiculously challenging sometimes. For now, take a hot bath, snuggle up in a favorite blanket and listen to your favorite song.

How could I resist posting another picture of BEAUTIFUL Tiffany? I love this image because you can see one of the little bugs (in the loop of the ‘g’) that were flying all around our heads as the sun was setting.

Last night I had the pleasure of meeting sweet Tiffany. It was hot (very, very hot) but she was a trooper and her adorable spirit shinned through. Can you believe she is only 15? What a beautiful girl!

I know, I know, I haven’t been posting lately. I have been so busy.
My favorite busy has been loving these two and eating up every second of summer sunshine with them that I can.

I am so beyond grateful for a life full of art, love and pink bathrooms.

(and yes, I feed her in the bath sometimes. less cleanup.)
